I MET DAVID QUITE RANDOMLY IN THE BASEMENT OF THE WESC STORE (SLAM CITY SKATES ANNEX). I INTRODUCED MYSELF AND CHATTED FOR A BIT. WE EXCHANGED NUMBERS AND HE SAID HE’D CALL UP FOR A SESSION THE FOLLOWING DAY.
BEING FROM NYC I’VE BEEN CONDITIONED TO NOT EXPECT THAT CALL FOR ANY NUMBER OF REASONS. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A TEXT ON WHERE TO MEET AND I WAS OFF. DAVID INTRODUCED ME TO A FEW FRIENDS AND HIS FLATMATE. GOT TO SIT IN AND WATCH THEM SKATE SOUTH BANK. EVEN THOUGH TIME WAS SHORT & INTRODUCTIONS BREIF DAVID CAME ACROSS AS A REAL STAND-UP CHARACTER. HE EVEN PUT UP WITH A FAULTY FLASH UNIT TO TAKE THIS PHOTO. HE PROBABLY 5-0’D THAT LEDGE 25 TIMES. I DEFINITELY APPRECIATED HIS PATIENCE AND HIS OVERALL CHILLED OUT DEMEANOR. KEEP IN TOUCH DAVID. SEE YOU HERE THIS SUMMER!

Yesterday we got the chance to head over to the “Williamsburg” of London. There we visited the good folks at CHROME & BLACK. Yani and Olivia, great people. Shared some stories and more importantly shared some laughs. They loved our shades (courtesy of Atomagalactic). I even got Olivia to do an impromptu modeling session with the shades.

Today we were finally able to catch up with one of the main reasons we’re out here in the UK. We’ll be at Johnny’s UK Grand Opening March 12th.
This is an illustration by our boy Vicki Pages. Some of you might’ve already heard of him. If you haven’t shame on you. You’ll definitely be hearing more about him soon from us.

DESIGNED TO PEFFECTION @ MOSAIC!!!
N.J. brand showing they’re attention to detail & appreciation for meaning within their designs. These aren’t just pretty graphics done on illustrator then silkscreened. These guys put a lot of thought and layers of meaning within the acrylic.
PHWESH x MOSAIC
Yesterday we were visited by local artist/designer Miguel Germoso aka L.i.2 and a bit of his crew Kid Nova & Phish. Miguel is a neighborhood kid from the Marble Hill/Kingsbridge area. He’s been doing his music and clothing thing for a minute with his team. It’s been getting some notice as of late and he stopped by yesterday on his birthday to sit down with us here at the shop and share some insights on what the future holds for Phwesh.
MOSAIC: So how do you want to start this interview. what would you like to say?
PHWESH: A lot of ppl like to hate. They don’t think about themselves. They don’t think of trying and making it themselves. I’m looking at things different now I just turned 22 and having the brand gain some acceptance is really making me change the way I look at it overall.
MOSAIC: How long have you been working on the Phwesh line? PHWESH: Designs and Ideas since 2008 but I really got to work on it this year. In that time it’s really begun to take off for a small line of tshirts from The Bronx.
M: How’s the response to Phwesh line been this year? P: It’s been great. to tell you the truth I didn’t expect it. Phwesh was a just a nickname I never expected it to be something I could bring to life like this. We’ve been in a JadaKiss video directed by Mills Miller and the line was featured on B.E.T. by DJ PRO-STYLE and DJ FLIPSTAR.
M: And you just shot you own video right? how was that? P: It was an amazing experience. It was directed by Mills MIller. you can check out his work at millsmillermedia.com.
M: What do you look forward to for the rest of this year and into the sping of 2011? P: I look forward to puting more out. having people love it. I don’t want it to just fade away. I want people to think of the line as part of their everyday life. When you wake up in the morning you think of getting Phwesh.
M: Any Last words?
P: It ain’t Fresh if it ain’t Phwesh.
Be sure to look out for more Phwesh gear at Mosaic
